What is an angel?

“Angel… An out breath of God manifest.”

I have been walking with angelic energies all my life. Yet, it took me years to stop and ask, what is an angel? During one of the toughest times of my life, I took time out to go into a deep meditation and ask.

The answer took my breath away.

“We are all one”

Wow. OK. Hmmm. What does that mean, I asked again. And the answer, well, that was the same again…”We are all one”.

It took a few more goes through meditation to get to the next part of the answer: there is only one angel.

What? Run that by me again, please! Only one angel?

“Yes. One. Angel, an out breath of God manifest”

Well, where does one go from there? To save you the frustration I will shortcut a year or two of my learning and explain in human terms why there is only one angel.

We are taught that there is a hierarchy of angels, archangels, seraphim and so on. I will openly admit I spent years trying to remember each part in the hierarchy: the principles, virtues and associated angels/energies or beings, so much so my head exploded at one point and I stepped away from giving readings and even meditating (that’s another story for another time though).

What came through in these meditations was that every religion around the world had an angelic being or similar and what held true for all was that these holy beings came from the same singular source: God. Our omnipresent celestial guide breathed life into all and from that out breath became manifest the holy help and guidance, or what I will call angel. Yes singular!

As humans, we developed and learned from our ancestors who in turn learned and developed from theirs and so on through time. At some point in the process, our human minds could not cope with one God let alone one angel, so it became easier to have a warrior angel (aka Michael) an angel of change (aka Haniel) an angel of healing (aka Raphael), unconditional love – Chamuel and so on. Soon there was an A-Z of angels to call on. Our human minds were at peace because we could divide, label and neatly box our angels. There was an angel for everything, right down to parking spaces and lost keys.

By dividing, alphabetising and categorising our angels (in roughly the same way your CD’s are) we could cope. However, we also lost something very important, our connection to all of life, to one. We also lost our connection to nature, we lost our ability to be happy with who we are as people.

In this sleep, we began the nightmare of life as we know it. Closed off, separated from what is our inherent core feeling: oneness. What became manifest was our separation from God, the angel. We became lost in time and space and could only make our reality from what we could touch, hold and see in 3D, we could only see the tiny fragments of who we are.

Angel is beyond time and space. Angel vibrates at a frequency so much higher that it has no need for time or space and so can be everywhere at once, manifesting in 3D reality as we see it, in a form we can most resonate with. So how do we get to see this one out breathe of God in manifest form? We reconnect. We connect with our environment the ground we walk on, the air we breathe, the food we eat, gravity, birds, things, everything… We are one with it all. We are all a part of this intricate life, even the unseen parts like angel.

We reconnect and then what? How does this help?

Well, through a practice like meditation we begin to relax, de-stress and reconnect with the one consciousness. We unwrap the layers that smother us, we clarify our thinking and open to a world we never knew existed. A world that was there all along, waiting for us to reconnect with. We open to the guidance of our higher selves, we follow solid advice from a teacher that knows it all. We reconnect with the very essence of life. We ground ourselves to the world, being a part of it but not in it. We begin to follow our own soul’s compass.

Once we are reconnected, miracles occur. Not the gigantic burning bushes or the ones we see in films. I am talking about miracles being a change in perception, seeing what has been there all along, without the obsessive fragmentation and categorisation we tend to do. We become one with our surroundings, going with the flow, we let out the angel in us.

And that, in short, is what an angel is… being one, the out breath of God in manifest form. One.
