Three sure-fire ways to help you spring into action

Here’s the big assumption, ‘no pain no gain’. Really? Let’s throw that out and start again.

Taking action on your dream, your big goal is not painful nor does it need to be devoid of any fun. Want to know how?

Let’s make this simple.

What is the one thing you really want to do for yourself? Taking a class, organising your diary for some free-time – whatever your goal is, large or small, get it clear in your mind.

See the goal as complete.

Really get into the visualisation, see all the colours, feel the warmth, smell the smells. Whatever it takes, imagine exactly how you would feel achieving this goal.

Awesome feeling isn’t it!

Now, because this vision is in the future, we have to get your mind working on the vision in the present.

Here are three things you can do to spring into action and make that vision a reality:

(By the by, point 3 is a real shifter, saving the best for last!)

  1. Spring cleaning your mind, home and life.

You know how I feel about planning ah, my first love! Even I know that the best results come from knowing plans and visions need actions. Without action, a plan is just a wish.

If you don’t know how to do something new, here’s a sure-fire way to get in the know: use other areas of your life. So, remember where you excelled before. Now use those actions as examples and templates for how to do the stuff you don’t know how to do!

Spring cleaning your home has a ripple effect on spring cleaning your mind and life.

While you are spring cleaning, allow the memories of where you excelled to come forward. Soon the answers to what you don’t know will become clear and you can act on those in the present moment.

  1. Action creates a sense of reward.

The best way to get going is to get going. Funnily enough, science shows us motivation happens after we start doing something.

So that great goal you have in mind, start taking small simple steps toward it every day. After a few small steps the momentum will pick up and that yummy feeling that makes your heart warm will soon enough grow into full-fledged-well-deserved reward.

And that sense of reward and feeling good comes from small actions made consistently. No effort, no fuss. The more rewarded you feel, the more actions you’ll take and the bigger the reward… you get where I’m going with this!

  1. Shifting perception opens up a whole new world.

Every once in a while we feel so stuck that action seems impossible. Well, having read to this point, your perception will have shifted one way or another about your goal. Continue, there’s only a little way to go!

When it comes to your goal, yes you can do it, yes you will get there and yes changing your mind about something does change how effective you are.

Quite interestingly, an inspiring example of perception shift is that of Nelson Mandela. After being in prison for 27 years, he landed up being not only a great President but a world phenomenon.

During his time in prison, instead of seeing life negatively, he set about shifting his perception of people, prison and life in general. Pretty nifty that the end result of his shifts in perception landed up changing the world and contributing to peace.

Take a leaf from Nelson’s book, change your mind and change your world.

How do you feel about taking action now?

Think back to the goal you had at the start of this blog. Still, think no pain no gain?

Who needs pain, really? Now you know your goal is not only achievable, it’s easy to do as well. Get to it.

So, put these three sure-fire ways to the test. Come back to tell me how it’s working out for you. I love hearing your successes and…
